Communicate! is the voluntary and community sector event that gives you the opportunity to have your burning communications questions answered, while expanding your knowledge, skills and networks. With experts from the BBC, the Chartered Institute for Marketing, Knowle West Media Centre, Calling the Shots, Ujima, BCFM and ACTA Theatre Company - this event is not to be missed.

For those who attended last year, this is a great chance to build on what you learnt at the last event and delve into new areas. For those new to Communicate!, this event will provide a good range of workshops and speakers to get you well on your way and bursting with ideas around how you can communicate your group's message.

What will I learn? Dynamic and exciting ways in which you can give your organisation a greater profile and reach new audiences.

Who is the event for? VCS groups, big and small, wanting to improve how they market themselves.

Why is this important now? How we communicate is fast changing, it’s easy to get left behind if we are not clued up with the current systems and processes. While we can often feel daunted by new forms of communication, when we are familiar with the basics it can save us lots of time and help us to be more connected to those who benefit from our services. New forms of media allow us a greater opportunity to be seen and heard so those within and outside of our organisation are more informed about the services we deliver.

What is this event about? This event is about helping the VCS to develop greater skills in marketing and promotion so you can improve how you communicate. It will offer access to partners and experts who can help your group to do this. It will give a range of perspectives on how you can improve your group’s communication and why it matters. It offers one-to-one advice, hands on workshops and plenaries, networking and lunch at the Watershed. It is about your group becoming more confident and skilled in showcasing what you do and getting others talking about it.

What does this event cover? There will be workshops on using social media, using film, making the best use of drama and theatre and how groups can market themselves. There will be expert advice from the BBC, the Chartered Institute for Marketing, Knowle West Media Centre, Calling the Shots, Ujima, Nokia, BCFM and ACTA Theatre Company.

What do I need to know in advance? If you can use Twitter then great, we’ll ask you to get tweeting, if not and you have a Smartphone, then we’ll show you on the day. It would be great if you could come along and share the types of concerns or ideas you have about how your organisation can best communicate its message to others - there will be one-to-one support available to you in our Media Circus networking event and during some of the workshops.
